Overview
The Government has released for public consultation the third round of exposure draft legislation and explanatory material to lower the annual non-concessional contributions cap to $100,000 and restrict eligibility to make non-concessional contributions to individuals with superannuation balances below $1.6 million.
Also included are further amendments to improve the superannuation administration arrangements.
This release follows the previous tranches of exposure draft legislation made available for public consideration on 7 September 2016 and 27 September 2016.
The draft explanatory material released with the exposure draft legislation deals with the implementation of both measures. The final Explanatory Memorandum that will accompany the Bill will provide the overarching policy context.
More information on the Government’s superannuation changes is available on the Treasury website.
