Overview

The Government is exploring delivery approaches to modernise the business registers administered by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, and the Australian Business Register administered by the Australian Taxation Office.

The Government is considering establishing a whole-of-government registry platform that will deliver modernised business registration and licensing services for the Australian community.

Modernising the business registers will make it easier for businesses to interact with government, and forms part of the National Business Simplification Initiative.

Request for Information

On 5 December 2017 the Government opened a request for information (RFI) to explore solutions for a potential whole-of-government registry platform. This market testing will inform the Government’s solution.

Responses to the RFI are welcome from a broad range of businesses and are due by 12 pm, Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT), 15 January 2018.

Further information on how to submit a response to the RFI is available on the AusTender website.

The Government will make a decision on next steps following the evaluation of the responses to the RFI.

August 2017 public consultation

From 9 August to 6 September 2017, the Government sought responses to a discussion paper on ways to improve its business registry services.

30 submissions were received, 10 of which were confidential. The non-confidential submissions are available below.
