The Reserve Bank Regulations 2026 remake the Reserve Bank Regulation 2016, which will sunset on 1 October 2026.
The main function of the Regulations is to support the Reserve Bank Act 1959. They:
set out the secrecy declarations that members of the Reserve Bank of Australia’s boards must complete
list the bodies with whom Reserve Bank of Australia officials may share protected information or documents.
The Regulations add 3 government agencies that officials may share protected information or documents with:
Department of Home Affairs
Australian Office of Financial Management
Australian Signals Directorate.
The Regulations also include minor drafting improvements.
The Regulations otherwise remain essentially the same as the 2016 Regulation.
