The Reserve Bank Regulations 2026 remake the Reserve Bank Regulation 2016, which will sunset on 1 October 2026.

The main function of the Regulations is to support the Reserve Bank Act 1959. They:

  • set out the secrecy declarations that members of the Reserve Bank of Australia’s boards must complete

  • list the bodies with whom Reserve Bank of Australia officials may share protected information or documents.

The Regulations add 3 government agencies that officials may share protected information or documents with:

  • Department of Home Affairs

  • Australian Office of Financial Management

  • Australian Signals Directorate.

The Regulations also include minor drafting improvements.

The Regulations otherwise remain essentially the same as the 2016 Regulation.
