Give feedback on proposed changes to how the Data Standards Body (DSB) makes regulatory data standards.

The changes aim to improve how the standards are designed, consulted on and delivered for the Consumer Data Right (CDR) and Digital ID.

As CDR and Digital ID mature, the reforms aim to make data standards clearer, more predictable and easier to implement.

The proposed reforms focus on 3 areas.

Regulatory standards purpose and scope

Clarify the role of regulatory data standards, what they are designed to achieve and when they should be used within broader policy frameworks.

Standards development process

Improve the standards development lifecycle by setting clearer phases, engagement points and evidence requirements. This will support transparent and consistent decision-making.

Standards publication and implementation

Introduce more predictable release schedules. For CDR, this includes standardised future-dated obligations to support planning and reduce implementation burden.

The DSB is seeking feedback to test whether this approach is clear, practical and aligned with the needs of Digital ID and CDR stakeholders.
