The discussion paper includes policy proposals and questions to guide your feedback. You can respond to any of the questions or provide evidence or views.

Treasury will host a stakeholder briefing on 2 June 2026. It will provide information and context for the proposals.

About the right to repair
The right to repair allows independent repairers and registered training organisations to access service and repair information for motor vehicles.
The MVIS started in 2022. Treasury reviewed the MVIS in 2025. This discussion paper builds on the review findings.
