Worker screening
Worker screening checks prevent high‑risk individuals from working with vulnerable Australians. This helps reduce the risk of harm and abuse.
There are multiple types of worker screening checks across states and sectors. This complex system can hinder worker mobility. It may be hard for care recipients, workers and providers to understand.
Options
Tell us how feasible these 2 options are:
Mutual recognition – jurisdictions and sectors recognising checks done by other jurisdictions and sectors.
A single national check – combining all existing working screening checks into one national check.
These options are not exhaustive. We welcome any other ideas you have.
These options will build on other reform processes to help achieve a national system for worker screening.
