National licensing for electrical occupations

Master Electricians Australia supports the introduction of national occupational licensing (NOL) and prefers
the proposed hybrid approach (option 3) at least as the initial step in achieving a national harmonisation to electrical worker licensing.

We prefer a national licensing eligibility law for electrical workers, where all states and territories agree on one set of eligibility requirements for electrical licensing, while each jurisdiction retains control over administration, compliance, and enforcement. This model strikes the right balance between national consistency and local oversight,
without compromising jurisdictional authority.
