In response to the Treasury’s evaluation of the 2021 foreign investment reforms, the Government is seeking views from the public on options to enhance Australia’s foreign investment framework.

To support this consultation process, the Treasury has published a Discussion Paper that seeks written submissions from interested parties on options to improve the overall design and operation of the framework, reduce regulatory burden, refine compliance and enforcement powers and processes, and if there are areas where increased scrutiny of certain types of investments may be required. Submissions should be lodged before 11:59pm AEDT on 11 March 2022.

Full details of the Government’s response to the evaluation of the 2021 foreign investment reforms are contained in Attachment A to the Discussion Paper.
